Adam and Eve: Dante Alighieri

In the celestial expanse, where time was naught,
The Creator, His wisdom and art divine,
Crafted two beings of clay, with love and thought,
Adam and Eve, a man and woman, entwined.

In Eden’s paradise, they walked the earth,
Beneath the watchful gaze of the Almighty,
In unity, they lived, devoid of dearth,
Their innocence and love, a tapestry.

But lo, the serpent slithered, sly and veiled,
Approached Eve, with whispers of fruit forbidden,
That promised knowledge, power yet unassailed,
A taste, and mortal eyes would not stay hidden.

Eve, swayed by the serpent’s honeyed deceit,
To Adam, brought the fruit, and shared the bite,
In one fell act, they shattered their retreat,
Awakening to knowledge, but losing light.

The Creator, aggrieved by their betrayal,
Banished them from Eden’s hallowed grounds,
Condemned to toil, to plow, and to travail,
And suffer for the fruit’s knowledge, unbound.

As Adam and Eve wandered, lost and pained,
On earth, their fall begot a tale of woe,
A testament to innocence restrained,
And humanity’s struggle, far below.

Through the dark forest of their fallen state,
They bore the weight of sin, a load immense,
Their journey marked by love, by guilt, by fate,
To seek redemption and regain innocence.
